The Office of Educator Licensing and Accreditation has the following responsibilities:

• Analyzes credentials and makes determinations of eligibility for individuals seeking teaching licenses to practice in the District’s 37 Local Education Agencies (LEAs).
• Manages and coordinates all of the accreditation and program approval oversight activities related to the seven DC Institutions of Higher Education that are approved by the state to prepare teachers and academic service providers.
